A player’s hand is evaluated after each betting round, called the “showdown.” The winner is determined by the player with the best hand. The best poker hands are made up of five cards. A player’s hand is only as good as the five-card combination that is the highest. These combinations include a straight flush, a flush, and four of a kind.
When deciding whether to raise or fold a hand, a player’s hand is evaluated. The best hand at any given moment is the “nuts,” which includes a pair of sevens. A trip 7 is also considered the best hand. The turn card is a 5, and the river card is a seven. A backdoor flush is made by hitting the needed cards on the turn and river.
Poker is played with a dealer. To play, each player must place an ante. An ante is the “buy in” bet that is usually one dollar or five dollars. The dealer will then deal the cards to the players one at a time. Each player then decides whether to raise their bet, fold, check, or match an opponent’s bet.
