Warning Signs of an Online Gambling Addiction

Online Gambling

Online Gambling is betting on games of chance or skill for money through the use of a computer, tablet or mobile device with an internet connection. It’s important to know the warning signs of an online gambling addiction so you can seek help and stop the behavior before it gets out of hand. Online gambling can lead to debt, credit card problems and other financial issues. It can also lead to mental health issues like depression, anxiety and stress.

Currently, the majority of states allow residents to place wagers on sports events and other games of chance online. However, the same cannot be said for casino and poker sites, as most territories have yet to legalize these forms of gaming. In the case of poker, most lawmakers are concerned with passing bills that will allow the activity to be conducted in brick and mortar establishments, rather than on virtual machines.

In the meantime, the few states that have yet to introduce any form of online gambling include Utah and Hawaii. Both of these states have large Mormon populations, and the majority of residents feel that introducing the activity will have negative consequences on family life and society at large.

In contrast, many states are preparing to introduce legalized casino and poker websites as soon as possible. In fact, Nevada and New Jersey have already launched their respective sites, while other major states including California and Pennsylvania are poised to join them.
